Alameda California Real Estate

Alameda California, located directly off the coast of Oakland California, is a wonderful community with many parks, great public schools and its fantastic location with close proximity to the metropolitan Bay Area. Alameda consists of two islands the main island of Alameda and an additional island called Harbor Bay Island. Make no mistake about it when it comes to Bay Area Real Estate, Alameda is in demand. The main island was established in the mid 1800’s and has quiet tree lined streets along with well-kept Victorian homes.

Alameda was originally a peninsula until the late 1800’s when the area demanded more shipping lanes in the area. The local merchants along with local government opened the channel off the coast of Oakland making Alameda an island and helping the shipping industry create what is known today as the port of Oakland. The west end of Alameda was home to one of the largest Naval Air Stations until 1997 but today has been deemed one of seven Coast Guard Cities.

Alameda has excellent public transportation with bus service, Alameda ferry service, Harbor Bay ferry service, and direct transit service (click here to check bus schedules) to San Francisco. Alameda is also very close to the Bart system (Click for scheduling and information)
and interstate 80/580 making travel to the Tri-City area very convenient and accessible. Alameda has one of the best public school districts in the state of California and is home to a well-educated diverse community. The climate in Alameda is very moderate and is one of the only communities in the Bay Area with direct access to beaches and the San Francisco Bay.

There are many activities to do in Alameda including wind surfing, kite surfing, kite flying, golf at the local Chuck Corica golf complex, fishing, swimming, beach activities, tennis, and bicycle riding as Alameda is flat. There are many different restaurants in Alameda along with several shops for just about anything one would want to find including the Alameda Towne Centre. Alameda is clean, quiet, and has breathtaking views of San Francisco, Oakland, and the surrounding hills making Alameda Real Estate in demand and rising in value. The locals who live there are relatively friendly and down to earth to give a sense of a living in a small town.

With its weather, diverse community, location, activities and conveniences, it is no wonder why Alameda is becoming a more and more desirable place to call home. Alameda Real Estate is one of the best investments one can have in the heart of the Bay Area Real Estate market.
