communities in the late 1800’s when the
fisherman used to dump the shells from crustaceans
in the location we know today as Emeryville.
This continued for many years until there became
quite a large mound of shells. The locals named
this mound the “Emeryville Shell Mound”.
Emeryville in the early 1900’s became
an industrial city with its easy access to the
railroad and water traffic. Emeryville became
the original home to the Sherwin-Williams paint
company and Shell petroleum and gasoline.
Emeryville
is a small community located about ten miles
east of downtown San Francisco. It is an easy
commute by car with interstate 880/80 very close
by, or by AC transit and the Amtrak train station.
