The community in Hercules is pretty diverse
for ethnicity and is home to mainly a middle
class environment. Many found Hercules a great
place to move to simply because the homes are
nicely equipped and the public school system
is good. Hercules is also home to many businesses
in the manufacturing and high-tech sector with
such companies as Bio-Rad Laboratories. Developers
in Hercules are currently working on several
new projects for residential housing, commercial
buildings and rehabilitation of several historical
sites. The City of Hercules is also working
on the completion of its waterfront with excellent
views of the Bay.
The city of Hercules came
about when the California Powder Company moved
there from San Francisco. The city was named
after its most popular brand of explosive powder
which came from the mythological character during
the Greek and Roman era. The location was ideal
for the company to develop and distribute the
explosives because it was close to the railroad,
water and road transportation systems. The powder
company was prominent in Hercules until the
mid 1970’s when developers started buying
the land to provide housing and commercial buildings
for the growing Bay Area population.
The community
of Hercules has been working to pass legislation
for a new Amtrak rail station and a new ferry
line with service around the Bay Area and San
Francisco. The local community seems to like
the size of Hercules and has voted against a
new Walmart store being built and the development
of more land. Hercules is a good location to
work, live and spend time enjoying the many
activities to do there. Contact us today to
