Bay Area City with a population of about 25,000
residents. Lafayette is very quiet, wooded and
has many tree lined streets with several residents
enjoying views of Mt. Diablo. The history of
Lafayette is rich with history and was a direct
line for the Pony Express to pick up a new horse
during the gold rush days.

Lafayette is located on
the Eastern side of the Caldecott tunnel with
its surrounding cities consisting of Moraga,
Orinda and Walnut Creek. The locals call the
general area Lamorinda combining Orinda, Moraga
and Lafayette. Lafayette is definitely a suburban
environment and the homes there are large and
beautiful with many estates. There is a smaller
downtown area with many restaurants, shops and
stores along with a community park and the famous
statue of Lafayette. It is a great community
to commute from considering there is direct
Bart service,(Lafayette Bart Station) easy access
to highways 24 and 680 and is within a 30 minute
commute to San Francisco.
Many enjoy hiking
and the outdoors spending time at Lafayette
reservoir and participating in the many activities
there are to do there. There is the annual Lafayette
Art and Wine festival where many artists display
their artwork. There are many vendors, arts,
crafts, food, wine and activities to enjoy.
The Art and Wine festival is usually held in
September. Don’t forget the Lafayette
Art room and the annual weeklong Lafayette Jazz
festival for great jazz and lots of fun. There
is also Jazz in the Park every week during the
month of September. Lafayette is well known
for its Theatre Arts with the oldest active
live theatre community in Contra Costa County
and the Town Hall Theatre Company is still active
and going strong today.
Lafayette is a wonderful
community and on the local level has very active
participation keeping the City prosperous and
safe. The public schools are an attraction here
and are ranked in the top percentile of the
state. Lafayette has warmer weather than San
Francisco and less fog making it an attraction.
