Piedmont Real Estate
Piedmont California is one
of the most desirable places to live in all
of the San Francisco Bay Area. The neighborhoods
are very quiet and the streets are tree lined
and beautiful. The community of Piedmont is
extremely affluent and is ranked in the top percentile for the most expensive places to live in
the State of California. This is a very quiet community with great weather and top ranked schools. There is no doubt why Piedmont is at the top of our list when it comes to
Bay Area Real Estate.

Piedmont was home to a
dairy farm on Highland Avenue and a large amusement
park that were both owned by Walter Blair. In
the late 1800’s a gentleman named James
Gamble bought three hundred and fifty acres
from Mr. Blair with the intent of subdividing
the land for others to build large homes. He
named his company “The Piedmont Land Company”.
The name Piedmont translates to “The Foot
Of The Mountain” in Italian. The name
seemed to be a natural fit for the location
at the time and is where the City of Piedmont
gets its name. There was one house that particularly
stood out named the Highlands that was painted
bright yellow. The home was unique for the fact
that it was visible too much of the Bay Area
from a far.
There were only a few homes in Piedmont
at the time until the event of the 1906 earthquake
when much of San Francisco flocked to other
parts of the Bay and many never returned. Piedmont
grew more than ten times from 1906-1907 and
in 1907 the vote was passed to incorporate Piedmont
into its own City. Piedmont during the 1920’s
became known as the “City Of Millionaires”
for the very simple reason that there were more
millionaires per square mile than any other
city in the United States.
Not much has changed.
The City of Piedmont today is rated the third
wealthiest per capita city in all of California
and one of the wealthiest in the Country. The lifestyle for many
who reside in Piedmont is quite lavish and lush
with the average income being in the top percentile.
There are many fine estates with gates, plush
grounds and panoramic Bay Views. Piedmont has
some of the best weather in the Bay Area with
temperatures that rarely get too hot or cold.
The Public School District is rated one of the
very best in the entire state of California
and education is a top priority there. The majority
of Piedmont high students continue on to some
of the most prestigious Universities in the
Country such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Georgetown
and MIT. Piedmont is neighbors with the Oakland
and Berkeley hills and such local communities
as Montclair, Rockridge, Lakeshore and Piedmont
Avenue offering many restaurants and shops.
Piedmont Avenue (in Oakland) is home to the famous Fenton’s
Ice Cream Parlor that is well know all over
the world. Piedmont is a fabulous place to call
home the Oakland and Berkeley hills close by,
the easy access to many up-scale communities
with tons of restaurants, shops, stores and
lavish markets such as Market Hall or Piedmont
Grocery. There is also a farmers market every
Sunday morning on LaSalle Avenue in the Montclair
Village offering fresh produce and many other
items. Contact us today to help with your real
