20 minutes North East of San Francisco. It has

Percent African American, and Thirty Percent
Hispanic. Richmond is home to the Richmond Marina
and Point Richmond where many goods are shipped.
During World War II, Richmond played an active
roll and was a major ship building facility.
After the war, the City of Richmond built temporary
housing for war veterans and the population
really started to grow. Many businesses have
been in Richmond including Ford Motor Company,
Standard Oil, JC Penny’s, Macys and Woolworth’s.
Some of Richmond’s largest employers are
the Chevron Corporation, Kaiser Permanente,
and the Social Security Administration.
The climate in Richmond
is very moderate with the average winter temperature
being 59 degrees F and in the summer averaging
74 degrees F. The unique trait about Richmond’s
weather is the wind. Richmond is windier than
most cities in the Bay Area. Point Richmond
is famous for its mom and pop businesses like
the historic Hotel Mac. There is also the historic
Red Oak Victory Ship that has been restored
and is on display. Richmond is also home to
Hilltop Mall and Mexico Town featuring Latino
owned and operated storefronts. There is also
the Ranch 99 market close by specializing in many different
Asian foods and produce. They have live fish
tanks and all different kinds of seafood. Ranch
99 also has many different restaurants and stores
along with a Chinese bookstore and a karaoke
store with many different kinds of music. There
are many different parks to visit including
the Miller/Knox regional Shoreline, The San
Francisco Bay Trail, and the Point Pinole Shoreline.
